How it works

The money waits in the middle. You both stay in control.

Safely replaces “you pay first” with a neutral account both sides can see. Here is exactly what happens on every deal.

  1. 01

    Buyer or seller

    Create the escrow

Describe what is being sold, the price, who pays the 5% fee, the delivery date and how many days the buyer has to inspect. Invite the other party by email.

  2. 02

    Both

    Both sides accept

The other party reviews the terms. Nothing moves until both of you have agreed — and once agreed, neither side can change the terms alone.

  3. 03

    Buyer

    Buyer funds

Pay by card, bank transfer or from your Safely wallet. The deal status changes to Funded and the seller is notified that the money is secured.

  4. 04

    Seller

    Seller delivers

Ship, hand over or complete the work, then mark the deal Delivered. Add tracking numbers, photos, signed documents — anything that proves delivery.

  5. 05

    Buyer

    Buyer inspects

The inspection clock starts. Check that what you received matches the description. Approve to finish the deal, or raise a dispute if it does not.

  6. 06

    Safely

    Funds released

On approval — or automatically when the inspection period ends without a dispute — the money moves to the seller’s wallet, minus the agreed fee.

When things go wrong

Disputes are part of the design, not an afterthought.

Raise a dispute

Either party can open a dispute while money is held. Funds are frozen immediately — nobody can release or refund them.

Share evidence

Both sides upload photos, messages and documents. A Safely mediator reviews everything on the deal’s record.

Fair outcome

The mediator releases, refunds or splits the funds and explains the decision to both parties in writing.

Bigger jobs

Milestones for work that happens in stages.

Building a house, a website or a fleet order? Break the deal into milestones — for example 30% on foundations, 40% on roofing, 30% on handover. Each milestone is funded and released on its own, so the seller is paid as they progress and the buyer never has more at risk than the current stage.

Common questions

Either the buyer or the seller. Whoever starts it invites the other party, who must accept the terms before the buyer can fund.
